The Department of Transportation (DOT) mandates in 49 CFR 382.603 that supervisors of commercial motor vehicles (CMV) who operate vehicles that require a commercial driver license (CDL) participate in a reasonable suspicion training. This includes 60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse and 60 minutes of training on controlled substance abuse.
The purpose of a reasonable suspicion training for supervisors is to identify potential substance abuse in the workplace, confront employees suspected of drug or alcohol abuse and refer employees to appropriate professional assistance if the donor(s) tested positive.

The Concorde Reasonable Suspicion Training for Supervisors is a two-hour online live course. Following the training session, you will receive a workbook along with an exam where you must pass with a grade of 70% or higher. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate that fulfills your FMCSA requirements with 60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse and 60 minutes of training on controlled substance abuse.

Yes. Reasonable Suspicion Trainings are required for any supervisor or employee who has the ability to initiate a suspicion drug or alcohol test and is covered under any of the DOT agencies.
Upon completion of the two hour reasonable suspicion training session, the supervisor will have met the requirement set by the DOT. It is at the company’s discretion if they wish their employee to complete additional training hours.
