FMCSA Extends Waiver for CDL Holders Regarding License Renewals and Medical Cards

The FMCSA has extended its waiver for CDL holders regarding license renewals and medical cards from June 30th to September 30th.

In response to the national emergency, many states are experiencing greater than normal employee absences or have closed offices of their State Driver Licensing Agencies in order to follow the social distance guidelines set forth by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Since the transportation of essential supplies, equipment and persons is not slowing down, the FMCSA has extended the waiver for CMV drivers, including Commercial Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) holders, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) holders, and non-CDL commercial drivers, to renew their licenses and medical cards. This regulation helps to maintain public safety while allowing the supply chains to continue to operate efficiently.

For more information on this waiver, you can review the initial requirements we’ve outlined for you back in March.
